Owning a Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren in Kentucky When the Dealership Is Hours Away

Most Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren service can be done in Lexington. What still needs the dealer, and how we help when it does.

Owning an exotic in Central Kentucky comes with one catch nobody mentions in the showroom: the nearest factory dealership is usually a long drive away. That drive turns a simple annual service into a day off work, a trailer, or a week without the car.

The good news is that most of what these cars need doesn’t have to happen at the dealership. Here’s how we think about it at our Lexington shop, and how we help when a trip to the dealer really is needed.

What can be done close to home

The vast majority of exotic ownership is routine: scheduled service, fluids, brakes, tires and the occasional warning light. All of that can be handled locally by a shop with the right tools and the right habits.

  • Annual and interval services: oil, filters, and the inspections the factory schedule calls for.
  • Engine, transmission and differential fluid services.
  • Diagnostics: we run ODIS, the factory dealership tool for Lamborghini and Bentley, and Leonardo, an advanced aftermarket platform built for Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin. That means real fault codes, live data and factory-specific settings, not a generic code reader.
  • Brakes and suspension: inspections and repair, including the suspension checks Lamborghini and Aston Martin owners should keep up with.
  • Tires: mounting and balancing on wheels up to 24 inches.
  • Pre-purchase inspections with factory-level diagnostics, before you buy.

What still needs the dealership

Some work belongs at the factory dealer, and we’ll tell you when that’s the case:

  • Warranty repairs paid for by the manufacturer.
  • Recalls and factory campaigns.
  • Certain factory-only procedures, such as some software updates and programming.

A common worry: does having routine service done at an independent shop affect your warranty? In the US, using an independent shop for maintenance doesn’t by itself void a factory warranty, as long as the work is done correctly, with the right parts and fluids, and it’s documented. Good records protect you either way.

When the dealership is the answer, you shouldn’t be on your own

When a job does need the dealership, we don’t just hand you a phone number. We have good contacts at the dealerships, we help arrange transport to get the car there and back, and we stay on it until your car is home and taken care of. You deal with one shop, here in Lexington.

Habits that keep an exotic healthy

  • Service by time, not just miles. Most of these cars see low mileage, but oil, brake fluid and coolant still age. Most exotic manufacturers call for service at least once a year no matter how few miles the car has covered.
  • Keep every record. A complete, documented service history is one of the biggest factors in what an exotic is worth when it’s time to sell.
  • Don’t let it sit on a dead battery. Modern exotics draw power even when parked. Use a battery maintainer, and drive the car regularly when you can.
  • Watch the tires’ age, not just the tread. Low-mileage cars often need tires because of age long before they wear out.
  • Store it right. Clean, climate-controlled storage matters. We work closely with Motor Vault KY, Lexington’s private, members-only storage facility, to keep stored cars maintained and ready to drive.
